The Art of Storytelling

Fairymaker Lady showcasing her artcrafts to Limkokwing students.

Today's lesson from a luxury craft market was mysteriously interesting. The ladies who sell their masterpieces knew what they are doing, for life, not for a living.

When comes to luxury gifts and crafts, we walked pass them without giving them a second glance. We could not afford to let customers to lose their interest when they stopped and look at your art. The first few seconds matters, impression is the key. But the way the ladies explained their crafts sounded so much like a tale, and they will put you in awe by telling you the design process. In the end, we buy a story/vision, not a empty art craft you would get in IKEA.

As advertising grows, the world will filled with stories, just like Apple told us they wanted to "think different", Nike told us "just do it" (with loads of ads featuring athletes and their training stories), Visa told us "Everywhere you want to be" (as if we are so rich). These companies knew they are going to be rich as always, because they know what they are doing, for life, not for a living.
